Margaret River Surf Hire is the equipment hire arm of Margaret River Surfing Academy — Western Australia’s most credentialled surf school. Operating from Rivermouth Car Park in Prevelly, we offer three core hire lines: premium wetsuits, soft-top boards for beginners and kids, and performance fibreglass boards for committed surfers.
Whether you’re a travelling surfer who didn’t bring boards, a beginner wanting to keep practising after a lesson, or a local chasing the right stick for the day’s conditions — we’ve got the gear, we know the breaks, and we’re here when you need us.

Should I hire a softboard or a performance board?

If you’re a beginner, returning to surfing after time away, or under 12 years old — hire a softboard. They’re forgiving, stable, and far safer. Once you’re comfortable catching unbroken waves, paddling out, and managing yourself in the lineup, that’s the time to step up to a mini-mal or funboard. From there, performance shortboards. If you’re unsure, ask us when you arrive — we’ll match you honestly
Do you have wetsuits and softboards for kids?

Yes. We carry children’s wetsuits from age 6 and up, and a range of kids’ softboards. Children must always be supervised by an adult in the water. For first-timers, we strongly recommend a lesson with Margaret River Surfing Academy first — visit mrsurf.com.au.
How do I book a hire?

Book online through our website, call us on 0415 129 973, or visit us in person at our home in Gractow. During peak season, we recommend booking ahead 24 hours.
What hire periods do you offer?

We do two-hourly, half-day ( 3 hours), full-day (6 hours), multi-day, and weekly hire periods across all three product lines. Multi-day and weekly hires offer the best rates per day.
